SnowBalling
Main Objectives:
-
Make a complete game, all asset and programming is done by me

Theme:
I didn't really know what kind of setting to look for at first. One reason for a winter/arctic theme was that I had a snowman profile picture that I'd been using for a while. From there onwards, all the asset was starting to take shape.
Assets:

These are the few sprites that I worked on during the project. Some of them we're earlier draft and changed later on as I thought of a different way the enemy should react into the world.

Blockout:
For blackouts 2 & 3, I ended up changing to something else later on down the line. I wanted to do a vertical platformer at first but due to my negligence, I didn't realize the requirement ask for a horizontal platformer. So I had to go back again and make a new one, I really fumbled on this one badly.

Gameplay:
I wanted to emphasize player movement in this particular game. That's why I've spent considerably a lot amount of time simply refining the movement such as adding double jump, wall jump and sprinting. However, at this stage of development, I was running out of time. So much of my time was spent on the art, blockout and movement that much of the coding was not up to par to my previous work.
Reflection
This is by far the biggest assignment that has been given out to me, and regretfully I did not do the best as my game wasn't coded well enough. I spent too much time on the other side of the project that I lost track on the other component of the games. If I had just a little more time past the dateline, I definitely could have done better. But due to horrible time arranging skills, this was a bust. In the future, I'll manage my time more properly and read what the assignment really asks for because I do not want to repeat the same mistakes again. Overall, I still enjoyed the process and will do better next time.
